Triple Curled Parsley
Bronze Fennel- Foeniculum Vulgare Perennial- This vigorous and uniform strain is slow to bolt. Non-bulbing type. The leaves are a nice addition to salads, coleslaws, and dressings. Leaves and stems should be harvested for fresh use before the plant begins to flower. Roots may be harvested in the fall of the first year before the plant flowers.
Bouquet Dill- Anethum Graveolens Annual- This popular dill variety produces edible flowers, leaves, and seeds, all of which can be used for flavoring pickles, salads, sauces, and dressings. Early-maturing plants have deep-green leaves, 6 inch flowers, and a distinct scent.
Lavender Hyssop- Agastache foeniculum Perennial- This herb provides many purple flower spikes that sit on top of dark-green foliage. Leaves emit a potent licorice scent when crushed and can be used as a flavoring for cooking and for tea. Makes an excellent cut flower.
Echinacea- Echinacea Purpurea Perennial- One of the very best flowers for attracting butterflies and birds, this showy and easy-to-grow plant adds a striking touch to the late summer landscape. Blooms heavily from July through September. Will tolerate clay soils.
Sunflower- Helianthus Annuus Annual- Very uniform variety. Dark-centered blooms are 4-5 inches across with petals that gradually fade from a dark red base to golden-yellow tips. Branching habit with long side stems, one of the best varieties for cut flowers.
Love Lies Bleeding- Amaranthus Caudatus Perennial- A large plant with striking red plumage that provides a dramatic look. As the plant becomes more established, impressive red-tinted light green leaves are joined by long drooping flower heads covered in hundreds of small deep-crimson blooms.
Empress Bee- Phacelia Tanacetifolia Annual- This annual flower bears subtle purple-blue flowers with curved spikes that put on a show in your garden while attracting and supporting support several types of bees. This plant is commonly called Bienen-freund, German for “bee’s friend.”
Poppy Star- Eschscholzia Californica- Intense pink to red blooms with lots of petals. Originating in Romania, this ornamental flower bears beautiful double blooms. The seeds can be used in cooking, making it a beautiful dual-purpose flower.
Moon + Stars Watermelon- Citrullus Lanatus Annual- Provides delicious fruit with sweet pink flesh and black seeds, that can reach about 2 feet long, weighing 10-16 pounds. First introduced in 1924 as Sun, Moon and Stars, this strain came from Mereel Hales of Oklahoma who feels it is a close example of the original Cherokee varieties of watermelon.
Glass Gem Corn- Zea Mays Annual- Each ear of this variety features translucent, colorful kernels. Each ear unique. Bred from ancestral Cherokee corn varieties. Colors are most intense when husks are dry and brown. Kernels may be ground into cornmeal or popped.
Dr. Wyches Yellow Tomato- Solanum Lycopersicum Annual- Dr. Wyche overwintered with the Carson & Barnes circus where he fertilized his terraced mountaintop gardens with elephant manure & scattered lion & tiger waste to keep out deer & rabbits. This gorgeous plant produces large golden-yellow tomatoes. Meaty flesh and rich flavor. Indeterminate.
French Breakfast Radish- Raphanus Sativus Annual- This plant is very early market variety of French radish. Oblong shaped, deep red with a white tip. White flesh with a mild, yet savory flavor.
Albino Bullnose Pepper- Capsicum annuum Annual Compact short plant produces fruit from early summer until frost. These beautiful 3-4 inch peppers have a lovely cream color & produce a mild sweet flavor. When ripe these peppers turn a reddish orange hue.
